TheTankMSD Economy Type II Marine Sanitation Device is a biological aerobic (bacteria and air) marine sewage treatment system. Liquid and solid wastes are removed from the water by bacteria naturally contained in sewage.
With a low profile, compact design, and easy retrofit install, this USCG-approved MSD is solid, simple, and built with quality components. It’s virtually indestructible and corrosion-proof, available in stock now for 4, 12, 16, and 32 person capacities.

How It Works: 3-Stage Treatment Process
1. Aeration
Sewage is aerated as it enters, mixing with bacterial sludge and air from non-clog diffusers. Aerobic bacteria consume the sewage, preventing solids from settling.
2. Clarification
The aerated liquid flows upward through biological filter media, where sticky biofilms trap and digest particles. The clarified water is now clear and ready for disinfection.
3. Disinfection
Chlorine tablets mix with the clarified liquid for final disinfection. Output can be discharged overboard or routed to a holding tank for use in No Discharge Zones.
