WHY THE FRACK PACK MATTERS
Frack Pack: Surface Skimming + Oil Separation
The Frack Pack is a dedicated surface oil removal system that removes oil from the water’s surface, but also separates the skimmed oily water into free oil and simply water. The Frack Pack consists of the Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) and Brute Oil Water Separator System (OWS). We can also furnish the pump and hoses needed so you can have a complete turn key skimming system “The Frack Pack”.
Our Frack Pack oil skimmer and separator system is designed specifically for the fracking industry. We know your tanks and we know about your oil troubles.
We Love Oil!
And can help you keep more of what’s your’s with the floating weir skimmer (FWS) acting as a floating decanter or surface skimmer drain head you can remove the surface oil/water, oily water or combo and send it to an oil water separator or other storage/separation device for further separation. Some people are worried about protecting their re-injection pumping systems which don’t tolerate oil and floating stuff so well while other operators are concerned with reclaiming any oils that would otherwise be lost with re-injection…..keep all the oil you are presently sending back downhole!!
Here’s why recovering more oil matters — both for your bottom line and the environment:
Why It Matters
More Oil Recovered = More $$.
More oil recovered means cleaner water

Frequently Asked Questions
What's actually in a Frack Pack?
Three core components shipped together: a skimmer (FWS00A381 floating weir kit by default, or FDS floating drum skimmer kit alternative), a BRUTE Oil Water Separator sized to your application (2.2 / 5 / 11 / 25 / 45 GPM), and the matched pump and hose set. Each piece is sized to work with the others — no integration headaches.
How is the BRUTE size selected?
Based on your frac tank volume, turnover rate, expected oil-to-water ratio, and any local discharge limits. Tell us those four things and we’ll size the BRUTE — typically 5 or 11 GPM for single-pad operations, 25 or 45 GPM for larger sites or multi-tank installations.
Are the pump and hoses included or optional?
Included. The pump and hose package ships with the skimmer kit (FWS00A381 or FDS) — they’re sized to match the skimmer’s flow range and are part of the Frack Pack quote. You don’t source them separately.
Can I use a Mini-Brute instead of the full BRUTE?
No — the Mini-Brute is a different product for a different use case. It’s a wall-mounted 1–2 GPM marine OWS for small vessels (fishing boats, harbor tugs, yachts, research vessels). The Frack Pack uses the full BRUTE because frac applications need higher flow capacity and floor-skid construction. See the Marine Oily Water Separator – Mini-Brute page for the small-vessel product.
What's the typical effluent quality?
Less than 3.2 PPM oil in independent tests — well under the 15 PPM IMO maritime standard. The TPH monitor on the BRUTE can be set anywhere from 1 to 15 PPM depending on your specific discharge requirement.
How does the Frack Pack handle oil slugs?
The BRUTE handles up to 35% free oil concentration as a normal operating condition, and can take temporary slugs up to 100% without bypass. The skimmer feeds the BRUTE at controlled flow, so even when the frac tank surface is heavy with oil, the BRUTE keeps up.
Does the Frack Pack come with a Frack Pack-specific brochure?
Not currently — the Frack Pack is a packaged offering rather than a single SKU. The component brochures (FWS, BRUTE, FDS) cover the individual parts in detail. We can provide a 1-page combined-system data sheet on request.
What about installation and commissioning?
The Frack Pack ships matched, tested, and ready to deploy. Field setup is plumbing the matched hoses between the skimmer and the BRUTE, dropping the skimmer in the tank, and powering up the BRUTE. SkimOIL ® engineering support is available for first-time installations and operator training.
