The Real Cost of Ignoring It

That small oil leak becomes a big fine. That oily discharge becomes a shutdown. That separator that “mostly works” becomes an emergency call from compliance. We’ve seen it all.

Why Oil Problems Never Stay Small

Another Failed Inspection

EPA limits for inland river waterways are 5 ppm. Your separator hits 50 on a good day. The math says you're in trouble.

Disposal Costs Out of Control

Hauling oily water at $5–$6 per gallon adds up fast — and that’s money you’ll never see again. Instead of paying for endless waste hauling, invest in equipment that keeps you compliant, lets you treat on-site, and even resell reclaimed oil. Remember : under “cradle-to-grave” liability, you’re responsible for that waste until it’s properly disposed of. Wouldn’t you rather keep control of it — and the money — in your own operation?

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does the Floating Weir Oil Skimmer Adjust to Changing Oil Layers?

The Floating Weir Skimmer (FWS) uses a manually adjustable flow-control weir that rides on the skimmer’s sump. By increasing or decreasing pump suction , you can raise or lower the weir to maintain optimal flow — skimming only the top surface layer, including oil, scum, algae, and duckweed — with simple, precise control for your application.

What types of contaminants can this skimmer remove?

Beyond oil, the FWS is highly versatile — it can remove floating ash, plastic pellets (nurdles), parts and scraps, scum, floc, duckweed, algae, and water meal. It performs effectively in ponds, tanks, and other open-water applications , making it ideal for removing oil and surface debris across a range of environments.

What sizes and materials are available, and how do I choose the right one?

We offer 12 standard models built from industrial-grade ABS or stainless steel , handling flows from 1 GPM up to 1,500 GPM . Each model varies by weir width, outlet size, and weight.

Choosing the right skimmer depends on your particular circumstances — what you’re skimming, the temperature and chemistry of the environment (including acidity), and your target surface area. SkimOIL® provides expert sizing assistance — just tell us your specific needs.

Can it operate inside enclosed tanks and cope with varying water levels?

Absolutely. The FWS performs exceptionally in enclosed tanks — with only one moving part, the hinged weir , it’s built for long-term reliability.

While in-tank systems may include piping or hosing , adding the right accessories — such as flotation supports or a swing-arm system — helps maintain consistent weir positioning , especially in setups with significant vertical water-level changes or pH-sensitive environments .
